Vocational Alternatives Program (VAP)

What is Vocational Alternatives?

A Vocational Alternatives Program offers individuals, with an intellectual disability, an opportunity to further their knowledge in a variety of areas. 

Classes are taught in 6 and 8 week, ½ hour – 1 hour sessions, enabling individuals to work at their own pace.

Small classes allow for more flexible instruction, while working on social development.

Individual classes may be accommodated, if the nature of the class warrants it.

  • Money Management / Budgeting
  • Healthy Relationships
  • Essential Lifestyle Plans
  • Social Skills
  • Anger Management
  • Bullying
  • Family Dynamics
  • Job readiness

Who should attend VAP?

  • Participants are:
    • Self-referrals
    • Family-referrals
    • Community-referrals
  • Participants are not:
    • Currently in attendance at school
  • Participants may live:
    • With assistance in the community
    • With family
    • Without assistance in the community
