Community Integration Program (CIP)
The CIP program aims to provide clients with fun activities while engaging with the community. These activities include Special Olympics sport training, men’s and ladies night billiards, Venture Night and other local community events.
During sport training, participating clients are engaged in basketball, soccer, baseball and bowling, depending on the season. Clients of all ages come out and have fun, socialize and get some exercise. Last May, clients had the opportunity to show off some of the skills they have acquired during a basketball challenge against the Katimavik Group. The game was open to community members to come out and watch, provided they bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to the local food bank.
Venture Night is another activity clients greatly enjoy. Venture Night is an evening of socializing and planned activities, whereby clients have the opportunity to enjoy music nights, crafts, scrap booking and games. At the end of the evening, snacks and refreshments are provided to all those participating.
Recently, a new program has been added to the CIP program. Community Fusion is an even more personalized approach to CIP. With the focus on community inclusion clients go on excursions into the community in small groups. Activities are determined by individual client interests and current community events. Presently 30 to 37 clients receive services in this program.
